CHAPTER I
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS:
ACCIDENTAL MISSIONARIES
IN ALBANIA

My wife Michele and I were serving as missionaries in
Czechoslovakia in 1992 when we first heard about Albania. Some
friends and fellow missionaries had taken a team down for a shortterm
outreach there, but we felt no personal urgency to go ourselves.
We had not quite decided where we should go after fulfilling our
1-year commitment in Czech- on to the Ukraine (where we had been
for several outreaches already), or return home to Washington State.
